  14. MJD-S says:

OOOOOOooo! Put me down for chapters 19-20 of Frankenstein!

There’s a couple of “fiends” a “begone” and a “thence” in there!

  15. Re: setting the bitrate:

In Audacity, go to File/Preferences, then to the File Formats tab and set the bitrate for MP3.

  16. Eric Sheffer says:

Put me down for Frankenstein ch 21-22. Put the candle back!

  17. ken tompkins says:

What is the time frame on getting the chapters you’ve offered to record and the date they are needed? I realize that you want them asap but, realistically, how much time would I have to record them?

  18. hugh says:

objective is to have a whole book done before we start podcasting. also would like to release chaps mon, wed, fri. That being said, we’ve got half of Conrad done, one chapt of PSmith, and one chap of Frankenstein, none of Tolsoy. … so you’ve got some time, but yeah, sooner better than later.

    cheers!
    hugh.

  19. Scoot says:

Here I am, at last, after computer crashes and too many visitors to handle… I’d love to do the last two chapters of Tolstoy. How much time do I have?

    Thanks,

    Scoot

  20. i will take ch 7-9 of Childhood.

  21. hugh says:

hi scoot, no particular time frame – but sooner rather than later. we have a delay on conrad due to some tech problems on recording of chap 7! ideally, we’ll have all chapters submitted (and catalogued) before starting a podcast on a particular book.

    hugh.

  22. ian says:

    Hi,
I am making very tentitive steps into blog space as a result of discovering your wonderful project. As an expatriot living in a Chinese speaking community, I am an avid listener to audio books and dramatizations. Anyway, I see that chapters three and four of Frankenstein are still up for grabs, and would be more than happy to do some reading. Ian

  23. Hi,
I am really excited part of such a great project. I am so glad someone had the vision of coming up with this idea. I would love to be of some assistance so I can selflessly make a difference in life of someone.

I would like to volunteer for the chapter 10-12 in book Childhood by Leo Tolstoy.

I would like to know what’s the deadline and how would I select a character. I am a bit unfamiliar with this whole process since this is my first time. I hope volunteers in this community take the time to visit my blog and write comments to my article (soon to come) on how we can spread the message about librivox and get some more people on board.

Hope to become friends and part of a great team.

    Best Wishes,

    Gautam Parekh :)

  24. Heh! Looks like someone was already able to request chapters 10-12 before I got my hands on it. I’ll go ahead and take chapters 13-15! This is such an excellent project, I’ve always enjoyed audio books, and find it exciting to be part of such a great project.

Looking forward to my first release!

  25. hugh says:

hi gautam, the idea is that you read and record the whole chapter selection (chs 10-12 for you). then we find a way to get the mp3 and/or ogg files to me.

  26. Squiddhartha says:

I’ll grab Tolstoy’s chapters 16-18. Just glanced over them, and there’s a typo or two, but nothing insurmountable, I believe.

The characters appear to speak French and Russian – do you want accents, or would that be distracting?

  27. kristen says:

Squiddhartha, please add accents or character voices as you desire. Some readers do, others do not. It is up to you!

  28. Kathleen Rose says:

I don’t mean to be critical, but the chapters that Karen lebenz read for are painful. Some of us have narrating skills and some of us don’t. Who ever read the chapter before her was fabulous.
