Happy Saint Patrick’s Day!

Posted on March 17, 2007 by | Posted in Blog, News | Comments: Comments Off on Happy Saint Patrick’s Day!

Happy Saint Patrick’s Day! Volunteer Sean McKinley has recorded The Collected Works of Saint Patrick for us:

St. Patrick’s Breastplate – This prayer is attributed to St. Patrick and his diciples. It is written with some celtic pagan elements, but is definitely a Christian prayer asking God for protection through daily life.

A Letter to the Soldiers of Coroticus – Patrick writes this letter to excommunicate the soldiers of Coroticus’ army who pillaged villages in Ireland and forced many Christian converts into slavery.

Confession – A short autobiography by St. Patrick who tells of being abducted into slavery and taken to Ireland, the growth of his faith, his ministry as a bishop in ordaining many priests and baptising thousands of people, and a trial where he had to defend himself against his accusers. (Summary by Sean)

lifehacked! server troubles!

Posted on March 6, 2007 by | Posted in about LibriVox, News, on the web | Comments: 4 Comments on lifehacked! server troubles!

The good news is that we were posted about on Lifehacker today…they had nice things to say. The bad news is that what with increased interest (Life Hacker, Boing Boing, and the March Madness email) we’ve had some trouble handling allt he traffic.

Some of the problems were due to WordPress reloading everything dynamically; and the other problem was with our new fancy dynamic catalog…the catalog searches a database, and generates a page based on results – which takes a lot more processing power than our previous “search” method, which involved ctrl-F and a static html page.

Anyway, Dan and Kri seem to have fixed all the problems for now. We appreciate your patience, and thank you for visiting… Would you like to record something for us? If so, visit our forum, and post a “Hello.”
