SFF Audio Throws Down the Gauntlet

Jesse Willis over at SFF Audio offers up a challenge to audiobook makers: record some more public domain scifi. They’ve got a great list of Books that Ought to Be Recorded, including:

  • The Secret Of The Ninth Planet by Donald A. Wollheim
  • The Sky Is Falling by Lester Del Rey
  • Operation: Outer Space by Murray Leinster
  • The Door Through Space by Marion Zimmer Bradley
  • A Strange Manuscript Found In A Copper Cylindner by James De Mille
  • The Galaxy Primes by E.E. Doc Smith

I’m not sure about the public domain status of all of these, but they’ve been added to our Book Suggestions thread, and hopefully we’ll get some of them done to make Jesse happy.

Note to any SFF readers planning to take up the challenge: if you don’t mind having your work in the Public Domain, why not consider recording with us? Here’s how it all works: Volunteer for LibriVox

  1. Jesse Willis says:

I’m taking the status of all the novels on the list from the two websties listed, I have no personal knowledge of these novels being the public domain. SFFaudio contest entrants are encouraged, but not required, to submit their entries to LibriVox and/or Podiobooks.
