There are Crimes and Crimes

August STRINDBERG (1849 - 1912), translated by Edwin BJORKMAN (1866 - 1951)

Maurice, a playwright on the brink of success, feels so confident in his professional future he proposes to Jeanne, his mistress. However, upon meeting Henriette, his friend's mistress, he gets swept away by his overwhelming passion for her. The feelings are reciprocated by Henriette and their relationship quickly spins out of control. Tragedy strikes and both are swept up in accusations of murder with the potential to destroy them both.
