Mercator; The Merchant

Titus Maccius Plautus (254 BCE - 184 BCE)
Translated by Henry Thomas Riley (1816 - 1878)

Unaware that the woman Pasicompsa is his son's mistress, since the son says that he has brought her home to be his mother's attendant, an aged Athenian falls desperately in love with her. Rather than bring her into his house and have his wife find out, he has his neighbor house her. But then the neighbor's wife returns - and the son also discovers where his love has been hidden. Confusing? Only intentionally! - Summary by ToddHW
