Hercules
Hercules is an English Oratorio composed by Georg Friedrich Händel to a libretto by the Reverend Thomas Broughton. It was first performed at the King's Theatre in London on 5th of January 1745.
It is based on the story of Hercules and Deianira, as it is related by Ovid, in the Ninth Book of his Metamorpheses; and the same subject, as it is treated by Sophocles, in his tragedy The Trachinians.
