The Outline of Science

The Outline of Science are four books written for the layman. They give an overview of scientific knowledge as of the early 20th century. The topics range from astronomy and physics to botany and zoology, and also include chapters on (then) new technology like electricity and airplanes. The final volume includes chapters on the philosophy of science.
