Sæmund Sigfusson (1056 - 1133)
Sæmund Frode (norrønt Sæmundr fróði = Sæmund den vise), egentlig Sæmund Sigfússon, var en islandsk prest og historiker. Sæmund Frode er betydningsfull ved at han studerte i utlandet, var sentral i å bygge opp den tidlige kristne kirken på Island, men mest for at han var den første islandske forfatter og historiker som vi kjenner navnet på. Sæmund Frode (Old Norse Sæmundr Wise = Sæmund the show), actually Sæmund Sigfússon, was an Icelandic priest and historian. Sæmund Frode is significant in that he studied abroad, was instrumental in building up the early Christian church in Iceland, but mostly he was the first Icelandic writer and historian that we know the name of.
