Annie L. Burton (c. 1858 - )

Annie L Burton was born as an enslaved person around 1858 near Clayton, Alabama. Her date of death is uncertain. Her life's story is captured in Memories of Childhood's Slavery Days (1909). Her life documents in her autobiography that the end of slavery not only signaled a time for African Americans to not only start a new life, but a time to redefine their lives.
