Ansis Lerhis-Puškaitis (1859 - 1903)

Ansis Lerhis-Puškaitis, real name Anss Lerhis (2 September 1859 - 30 March 1903), was a Latvian writer, folklorist, researcher, public figure, and teacher. He is considered the pioneer of literary fairy tales in Latvian literature, having written two collections of fairy tales for children at the end of the 19th century. These collections, together with Krišjānis Barons' "Latvju dainām", form the basis of Latvian folklore studies.
