John Jerome Rooney (1866 - 1934)
John Jerome Rooney (March 19, 1866 — November 27, 1934) was an American judge and poet. He was a member New York bar, practicing chiefly in mercantile, customs and revenue cases. He was presiding judge at the Court of Claims, State of New York, 1913-1916 and special counsel City of New York, 1920. During the war with Spain he wrote several poems, later published in book form. He also wrote the poem “Right Makes Might,” official hymn of the City of New York, sung first by public school children at the 250th anniversary of the founding of the city.
