Romke Everts de Haan (1833 - 1899)

Romke Everts de Haan (July 24, 1833 - January 10, 1899) was a Dutch educator and author. De Haan contributed significantly to the dissemination of the natural sciences, writing numerous articles about them in the Album der Natuur, Isis, the Vragen van den dag, and other popular magazines. His efforts to make Darwin's theory of evolution more widely known earned him, among other things, temporary persecution from the church party in the House of Representatives.
