Emil Lehmann (1823 - 1887)

Dr. Emil Lehmann was a German translator of works by Wilkie Collins. He is said to have been the inspiration for the character of the German Dr. Grosse in this novel, as Emil Lehmann and Wilkie Collins were good friends (they were also related through marriage).
