Aagje Deken (1741 - 1804)
Aagje Deken (born Agatha Deken) was a Dutch writer, who grew up in an orphanage. After leaving the orphanage she served in several families and later started a business in coffee and tea. She started publishing poetry and novels in her mid-thirties. Most of her works were written together with her friend Betje Wolff. They are best known for the successful novel Sara Burgerhart.
