Richard Burton Deane (1848 - 1930)

Richard Burton Deane was superintendent of the North-West Mounted Police. Deane had served with the NWMP during the Riel Rebellion of 1885, tasked with guarding Riel and 50 other participants of the uprising in their prison cells. In 1916 his book Mounted police life in Canada: a record of thirty-one years' service, was published.
