Theodor Herzl (1860 - 1904)

Theodor Herzl (Hebrew: תִאוַדָר הֵרצְל, Hungarian: Herzl Tivadar), born Benjamin Ze’ev Herzl (Hebrew: בִּנְיָמִין זְאֵב הֵרצְל, also known in Hebrew as חוֹזֵה הַמְדִינָה, Khozeh HaMedinah, lit. "Visionary of the State") was an Austro-Hungarian journalist and writer. He is the father of modern political Zionism and in effect the foundation of the State of Israel.
