Eliza P. Donner Houghton (1843 - 1922)

Eliza Poor Donner Houghton (8 March 1843 - 19 February 1922) was an American settler and author. She was a survivor of the Donner Party. Her own book "The Expedition of the Donner Party and Its Tragic Fate", was published in 1911, sixty-five years later. She also chronicled the early years of the state of California. Eliza belonged to several organizations, including the Red Cross, the Native Daughters of the Golden West, the Daughters of the American Revolution, and was also active in her church.
