Richard Soule (1812 - 1877)

Richard Soule (8 June, 1812 - 25 December, 1877) was an American lexicographer. He was graduated at Harvard in 1832 and was a civil engineer till 1838. From 1840 - 1853 he engaged in sugar-refining, and after 1855 he devoted himself to literary pursuits. Mr. Soule had supervision of the corps of editors that assisted Dr. Joseph E. Worcester in the preparation of his quarto dictionary.
