George G. Foster (ca. 1815 - 1856)
George G. Foster (ca. 1815 - April 16, 1856) was an American journalist, known as “Gaslight Foster.” He moved to New York City in 1842, where he became a reporter for the New York Tribune. He wrote a series of articles in 1848 which proved to be quite popular and were soon published as New York in Slices (1849) and New York by Gaslight (1850).
