Giovanni Battista Cerruti (1850 - 1914)

Giovanni Battista Cerruti (28 November 1850 – 28 June 1914) was an Italian explorer. While still very young, he embarked as a cabin boy and sailed on several different ships to Buenos Aires, then the Indian Ocean. After military service and more sea voyages, he settled in Singapore and Jakarta, Indonesia. He explored much of Southeast Asia by land and sea. He died on June 28, 1914, in Penang, Malaysia.
