James L. Ford (1854 - 1928)

James Lauren Ford (July 25, 1854 - February 26, 1928) was an American humorist and author, who for many years was literary critic of the old New York Herald. He wrote several volumes of short stories and essays. For ten years before his death he was a double leg amputee; for the last 2 years he was blind. But he did not stop writing until about 5 weeks before his death.
