Ida John (1842 - 1907)

Ida John was a German author. She was the daughter of the school director Hoschke in Arnstadt. In 1860 she married the senior teacher Alfred John, brother of the writer Eug. John (E. Marlitt). A number of poems, novellas and novels were published by her in various magazines. Her fairy tale poem "Princess Edelweiss" was set to music by Professor Albert Tottmann.
