Jennie Smith (1842 - 1924)
Jennie Smith (18 August 1842 - 3 September 1924) was an American author and evangelist. At age 15 she was struck with Typhoid Fever which damaged her spine, resulting in pain and paralysis. After being bedridden for over 20 years, she was miraculously healed and became an evangelist, traveling the railroads and giving the gospel and temperance messages. She was eventually appointed the National Superintendent of the Railroad Department of the Woman’s Christian Temperance Union.
