Alfonso Nadal (1886 - 1943)

Alfonso Nadal was a Spanish translator. He was a very prolific translator at a time—at the end of the Spanish Civil War—in which the titles published were mainly foreign since the most important writers had left the country or died during the war, and intellectual activity and national creative production were, therefore, meager. Alfonso Nadal greatly helped to popularize detective, intrigue and adventure novels among the general public. Thanks to his work and that of various publishers, names such as Jules Verne, Karl May, Agatha Christie, Enid Blyton and Walt Disney began to be familiar to Spaniards.
