George Henry Needler (1866 - 1962)

Major George Henry Needler, PhD, (March 26, 1886 - January 1, 1962) was a Canadian soldier university professor, and author. In 1886, Needler earned a bachelor's Degree in Arts with concentrations in Modern Languages and Philosophy from the University of Toronto. He later attended the University of Leipzig where he studied English, French, German and Literature. He earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree in 1890. Needler served in the Northwest Rebellion of 1885 and in the First World War. He was a professor and department head of the German Department at University College at the University of Toronto.
