Sarah Broom Macnaughtan (1864 - 1916)

Sarah Macnaughtan was born in Scotland, but moved to London after her parents' death where she started her writing career. She travelled a lot and was a passionate activist; she took part in the suffragette movement, aided victims of the Balkan wars, and worked for the Red Cross. During the First World War, she witnessed the Armenian genocide of which she wrote, but died of a contracted illness while abroad.
