Archer Wallace (1884 - 1958)
Archer Wallace was a Methodist/United Church minister, editor and broadcaster. He was born in England in 1884, immigrated to Newfoundland in 1904 to preach, and to Canada in 1907 to study. He studied at Victoria University and the University of Western Ontario. Ordained into the Methodist Church in 1909, he served churches in Northern Ontario and Toronto until his health failed. He was appointed to the Department of Sunday School Publications in 1919, and edited youth magazines until he retired in 1954. He also wrote many inspirational books, and hosted the first United Church television programme.
