Thomas Flatman (c. 1637 - 1688)

Thomas Flatman was a barrister by occupation (called to the Bar in 1662) but became known as a poet and miniature painter. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Academy in 1668. As a miniaturist, his subjects were members of his circle of friends, officials or lawyers. As a poet, he published his large poetry collection 'Poems and Songs' in 1674 and extended it in multiple editions until 1686.
