Baba Premanand Bharati (1857 - 1914)

Baba Premanand Bharati was a pioneer Hindu leader in the United States. Born Surendranath Mukerji in India, he was among the small group of Hindu leaders who entered the United States in the decades after the World’s Parliament of Religions in 1893. He founded the short-lived "Krishna Samaj" society in New York City in 1902 and built a temple in Los Angeles.
