Hanford Lennox Gordon (1836 - 1920)
Gen. Hanford Lennox Gordon (30 December 1836 - 11 November 1920) was an American soldier, poet, lawyer, and lumberman. He served in the Civil War as an officer and organizer of the 1st Minnesota Infantry, serving in Company D.
Later he engaged in the Sioux Indian War, and was made a brigadier-general by President Grant. He was later made a member of the Sioux Tribes. In late years he had written several books, among them "Laconics," and "Indian Legends and Other Poems."
After the war he devoted himself to law and lumbering. For years he stood at the head of the bar in Minnesota. In 1890 he moved to the Los Angeles area, where he held considerable real estate.
