George Logan (1866 - 1939)
George Logan was a Scottish furniture designer, painter, and poet who worked for Wylie & Lochhead from 1882 until 1937 and helped bring this firm international renown. A lifelong Salvationist, Logan was a regular contributor to The Darkest England Gazette, a weekly publication issued by The Salvation Army between July 1893 and June 1894. He later wrote many poems and prayers that were published under the pen name 'Mermaid' in the Greenock Telegraph, a local daily newspaper, starting around the time of World War I.
