Edgcumbe Staley (1845 - 1903)
Edgcumbe Staley (7 July 1845 - 1903) was a British Anglican priest and author. He was the author of several historical works, including Famous Women of Florence, The Tragedies of the Medici, and The Dogaressas of Venice. Most of these were published posthumously. He is accused of creating romanticized, exaggerated accounts, and reportedly crossed the line between history and legend.
