Orpheus Everts (1826 - 1903)

Dr. Orpheus Everts was an American physician. He was surgeon for the 20th Indiana Infantry during the Civil War and was instrumental in the care of Union and Confederate soldiers at the Battle of Gettysburg. After the war, he devoted his attention to psychiatry and diseases of the nervous system. In 1868, he was appointed superintendent of the Indiana Hospital for the Insane.
