Edward Spencer (1844 - 1910)

Edward Spencer Mott (pseudonym Nathaniel Gubbins) was an English journalist and author. In 1877 he began working for the Sporting Times. Spencer Mott maintained the pseudonym Nathaniel Gubbins at the newspaper, while he wrote various memoirs under the Edward Spencer name. His “Cakes & Ale” (1897) and “The Flowing Bowl” (1899) are notable books of the era that concern English drink.
