Mary Emily Donelson Wilcox (1829 - 1905)
Mary Emily Donelson Wilcox (31 August 1829 - 28 August 1905) was the first child born in the White House. She was the daughter of the nephew and niece of Rachel Donelson Jackson, wife of President Andrew Jackson. In 1845 when she was 15, she moved to Europe for five years, where her father was Minister to Prussia. She married in 1852. In 1874 after the Civil War, she became a translator in the Post Office Department, then in the Treasury Department.
