Helen Gansevoort Edwards Mackay (1876 - 1961)
Helen MacKay was an American writer who served as a nurse in France during the first World War. She went on to live in France for much of her life, writing poetry and novels in both English and French. She was awarded the French Legion of Honor for her welfare work in both world wars, as well as a French literary award for her novel, Patte Blanche.
