Sumner Upham Shearman (1839 - 1914)
Shearman served in the Union army during the U. S. Civil war. He was captured by Southern troops and spent six months in a Southern prison. After the war he was in politics in Rhode Island and studied law. In later years he became a clergyman and resided in Massachusetts until his death on Feb 15, 1914.
