John C. Gorman (1835 - 1892)

John Calvin Gorman (5 November 1835 - 27 December 1892) was a printer, Confederate soldier and prisoner. After the war he served as a member of the lower house of the general assembly and as alderman and mayor of Raleigh, North Carolina. In 1873 he was appointed adjutant general of North Carolina. He afterwards removed to Washington City, where he was engaged in the government printing office, which position he held till his death.
