Gladys Cromwell (1885 - 1919)
Gladys Cromwell was born into the wealthy New York elite. She and her twin sister served with the Red Cross during the First World War and tragically committed double suicide on the voyage back from France, sparking public debate on the effects of 'shell shock' (now known as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) on female war workers.
