Katharine Butler (1890 - 1942)

Katharine Butler Hathaway (2 October 1890 - 24 December 1942) was an American author. At the age of 5 she developed tuberculosis of the spine. For the next 10 years she was strapped to a board in the belief it would keep her spine straight. Katharine's back was permanently hunched, and she never grew taller than a 10-year-old child.
