Mary Borden (1886 - 1968)
Mary Borden (1886–1968) was an early 20th-century, Anglo-American novelist, born into a wealthy Chicago family. Married in 1908 to George Douglas Turner, she was sometimes known as Mary Borden-Turner.
Using her own money to equip and staff a field hospital close to the Front, she herself served as a nurse from 1915 until the end of the First World War, when she met and married Brigadier General Edward Louis Spears, and was later known as Lady Spears.
