Tactical Studies on the Battles around Plevna

Thilo Lebrecht Ernst Michael von Trotha (1841 - 1917)
Translated by Carl Reichmann (1859 - 1937)

Tactical Studies on the Battles around Plevna, or in German, Der Kampf um Plewna, examines with a critical eye the actions and engagements of the siege of Plevna (now Pleven in Bulgaria) during the Danube Campaign of the Russo-Turkish War of 1877-78. In doing so it offers a rare glimpse into the military art as practiced by the Imperial Russian army, and an unfiltered evaluation of it to German Imperial sensibilities.
