Catalog Up Again

The catalog is back up!

The tireless Dan has been working night and day to fix numerous issues with our catalog, and finally it is back up and running. Magic Windows (for you volunteers) are working again too. Thanks to Kara and others for help testing.

Also: a big thank you to David at the security firm/startup Subgraph for all his wonderful support and help.

We’ll post a bit more information when everything is finished up.

But I just want to express heaps of gratitude on behalf of everyone in the LibriVox community for the hard and frustrating work that has been done over the past two weeks to enable LibriVox to do what it does: make free public domain audiobooks.

Hugh.

    Thank you all so much for fixing Librivox!
    I’ve missed the feed, and pictured the Librivox team slaving away, putting the site put back together.

    Thank you!!!!
    For us who have been around some time on LibriVox, it has become a part of our lifestyle, so when things didn’t work, it was a terrible feeling!

    All wonderful LibriVoxers, keep up the good work.

    There are a few issues with the API now. I’m guessing you have made changes (or are planing changes). A few things I’ve noticed:

    1) The latestworks.xml API seems to be the most stable, but still has some problems. Many books are missing the “rssurl” which is necessary to get a list of all of the chapters.

    2) The search API isn’t up at all.

    3) The OPML API isn’t up either.

    Are you planning on relaunching the API with a new format or are these just hiccups?

    Glad you’re back. I have a problem I think. Your home page is the same as before “the” hack. Are you working on the “new release” area. There aren’t any new ones. I have seen 2 one “new release”feed but seems like there would be more after all this time. Thanks for all the good work everyone is doing.

    Can anyone tell me why, when sites are upgraded, they either become mor difficult to navigate or impossible to access. I have been trying for over an hour to access your “new’ catalog, where is it?

  11. LibriVoxer says:

    @ Harry Challis The server was down for a few hours, I’m afraid. Trust me, we are finding it more frustrating than you are. ;)

  12. LibriVoxer says:

    @Qasim

    Many RSS URLs are not working at present. We have many problems we are trying to fix. The API comes way down the ever-growing list at present, but will be addressed eventually, I hope.

    @Matthew

    All problems with the API are unplanned. Please see answer above.
