- How to claim a part, and 'how it all works' here
To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are up for grabs. Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which number section you'd like to read
Read the section below so you know what to do before, during and after your recording.
- New to recording?
Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
- Is there a deadline?
Target completion date of this project: 15th June 2007 but try to send your recordings as soon as you can. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it?ll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we?re all volunteers and things happen.
If you feel you may run past the deadline please let me know. If I haven't heard from you I will re-allocate chapters.
- Where do I find the text?
Just click on 'link to text' to open the text.
- Please claim chapters - available chapters are marked as available and then I shall change that assignation to assigned once you've claimed one
Edit me
- BEFORE recording:
Please check the Recording Notes:
http://librivox.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=6427#6430
- DURING recording:
If this is your first recording for Librivox please submit a short test recording so we
can check out your recording setup
Please leave about 7 seconds silence at the end of your recording!
Also, please remember to check this thread frequently for updates!
You may see occasional numbers throughout the text. These are for notes which we're not reading. I've edited them out as far as I can tell but if you see any that look as if they're a number for notes then please just ignore them.
- AFTER recording:
Save files as
128 kbps MP3 with a 44100 Hz sample rate
historyofengland02ch07_#_macaulay.mp3 , all lower-case, where # is your 2 digit part number. (historyofengland02ch07_01_macaulay.mp3)
ID3 V2 tags
(To find out more about ID3 tags, go to our wiki: http://librivox.org/wiki/moin.cgi/WhatIsID3)
Add the following tags to your .mp3 file (how you do this depends on which software you use ? if you are unsure about ID3 tags, send me a message). Please mind upper and lower case!
Title: Vol 2, chapter 07, part # (where # is your 2 digit part number)
Artist: Thomas Babington Macaulay
Album: History of England, Vol 2, chapter 07
Transfer of files (completed recordings)
Please always post in this forum thread when you've sent a file.
That way Anna can grab the file immediately for proof listening.
If you have your own server space, post the link here. Please leave the file in this location until the project is catalogued. Even better, upload the file to the LibriVox Uploader, see below.
If you don't have your own server space, please upload with the LibriVox Uploader:
http://upload.librivox.org/
username: librivox
password: librivox123
If this doesn't work, or you have questions, please check our How To Send Your Recording wiki page.
I'll need the following information from you when you submit a recording:
- your name as you want it to appear in the LibriVox catalog,
- your webpage URL (if applicable)
Any questions?
Please post below or PM me. _________________ Jim Mowatt - Historyzine - The History Podcast

Wow!
I was just going to write to you to ask if you'd do the proof listening but you're here before I've even finished putting in all the links for my first message
Many thanks Anna _________________ Jim Mowatt - Historyzine - The History Podcast |

Sounds great.
How are you with your recording setup, id3 tags sample rate and all that?
Are you comfortable with it?
If you need help or want to submit a test recording first then let me know and I'll talk you through it.
Great to have you on board the Macaulay project.
Kind regards

If you're still looking for someone to pick up Section 11, I'd be happy to do that.

John |

Absolutely Mr Lieder
Section 11 is yours.
Are you happy with file formats and everything.
44100 and 128bps and mp3 format and filename and id3 tags?
Anything you're not sure about please ask.
I shall allocate the section to you.
If you find you can't do it for any reason then please let me know and then I can give it to someone else.
Kind regards

Thanks. This will be my second reading. The documentation is all pretty clear, but if I have questions I'll be sure to ask.
Thanks!
