[Chinese] Three Hundred Tang Poems - Volume 2 - 唐诗三百首 卷二

This audiobook is now complete and available to download from the catalogue page:- http://librivox.org/three-hundred-tang-poems-volume-2-by-various/

Compiled around 1763, 'Three Hundred Tang Poems' is the standard collection of the poetic art of the Tang Dynasty (618 to 907). Volume Two includes the styles 古言七诗 'seven character ancient verse' (poems 46 to 73) and 古乐府 'ancient folk-song styled verse' (poems 74 to 89).

  1. How to claim a part, and 'how it all works' here
To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are up for grabs. Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section youd like to read (include the poem number, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.

  2. New to recording?
Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!

  3. Is there a deadline?
Target completion date of this project: 30th September but try to send your recordings as soon as you can. If you cannot do a poem you've claimed, for whatever reason, just let me know and itll go back to the pool. Theres no shame in this; were all volunteers and things happen.

  4. Where do I find the text?
The poem numbers below link to the text, with translation and clickable dictionary entry for each character.

  5. Please claim poems by quoting the poem numbers!

    link

  6. BEFORE recording:
    Please check the Recording Notes:
    http://librivox.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=6427#6430

    Set your recording software to:
    Bit Rate: 128 kbps
Sample Rate: 44.1 kHz preferred, 32 and 22.5 also acceptable

  7. DURING recording:
Make sure you add this to the beginning and end of your recording:
    Start of recording (Intro)
    • 这是[your name] 为 LibriVox 点 org 所提供的录音
    • If you wish, say:
"[city; your blog/podcast/web address; year, month]"

    • Say:
      "唐诗三百首,卷二,[poem number, poem title, author]"

    End of recording
    • At the end of the section, say:
      完。 LibriVox 的录音都是公众所有的"

    • If you have recorded the last poem in the volume, poem 089, say:
      "唐诗三百首 卷二,完。 LibriVox 的录音都是公众所有的"

Please leave a couple of seconds silence at the end of your recording!

Also, please remember to check this thread frequently for updates!

  8. AFTER recording:
    Save files as
    128 kbps MP3
    300tangpoems_vol_2_###.mp3 , all lower-case, where ### is your three-digit poem number. (300tangpoems_vol_2_046.mp3)

    ID3 V2 tags
(To find out more about ID3 tags, go to our wiki: http://librivox.org/wiki/moin.cgi/WhatIsID3)
Add the following tags to your .mp3 file (how you do this depends on which software you use if you are unsure about ID3 tags, send me a message). Please mind upper and lower case!

    Title: [### poem title]
    Artist: [Author name]
Album: Three Hundred Tang Poems, Volume 2
    Genre: Speech

(Note that ID3 tags need to be in English, not Chinese script).
    Transfer of files (completed recordings)
Please always post in this forum thread when you've sent a file.
Also, post the length of the recording (file duration: mm:ss) together with the link.

    • Upload your file with the LibriVox Uploader (when your upload is complete, you will receive a link - please post it in this thread):
      http://upload.librivox.org

(If you have trouble reading the image above, please message an admin)
You'll need to select the MC, which for this project is: ec - earthcalling
    • If this doesn't work, or you have questions, please check our How To Send Your Recording wiki page.

I'll need the following information from you when you submit a recording:
    - your name as you want it to appear in the LibriVox catalog,
    - your webpage URL (if applicable)
    - the runtime of the recording in format hh:mm:ss

Any questions?
Please post below or PM me.

Wolfjin, I've linked directly to the files on your server. Thank you!

My favourite is 54 - such a performance! Pace and excitement. Wonderful.

Of course, Maya, that would be perfect!

Take as many as you like, and do as many versions as you'd like of each one. If the children want to do solo readings of the poems they know, do encourage them! The more, the merrier.

Also, although volume 1 has gone to 'readers found', it is still open for further contributions. It would be wonderful to have some of the your and the children's recordings in that volume too.

Here's the link:- http://librivox.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2433

Although you don't need to 'claim' the poems, it will be good if you can let me know what you plan to do, or how much time you'd like... or simply when you've finished. I don't want to close the project and send it to the catalogue if there are still poems on the way.

Oh, and when you send in the files, can you let me know how to credit each one? If the school has a website, we can link to that too.

Many thanks!

David

Thank you, David and all, for offering us such a great opportunity to
go "international". ^^
The kids are pretty excited to join. We listened to a few of your poems
here together. It's like an eye opener for them^^

We tried to record some of those we claimed today, it was lots of fun for
kids. Well, they especially love to do the recording during nap time.
(The kids don't feel like taking naps at all.)
I wish I had their energy! Smile

Well, I think it would be great if the kids could see their names up here.
I'll list their names here later when we have the files done and ready for upload.

Also, I try to find threads in this forum that might help me improve my
recording. Still working.

I'd like to ask another question though. Will the sound files somewhat
be processed by someone after we upload them? I am not happy with
the results I get. Or should I do that myself?

Maya

Hello Maya,

You paint a wonderful picture - I wish we could see the enthusiastic faces!

How are you doing the recording? Are the children reading one-by-one, or in a group? You'd probably find it easier to record them one at a time.

We can do a few things to improve the sound quality (there are people here who excel at that sort of thing), but of course the better the recordig is to start with, the better the final result.

Why not send me one of your files to listen to? It doesn't have to be 'ready', just something to give me an idea of what you're doing and how it sounds.

David

Just one note: Since these are Children recording, they may want to use nicknames on the web for thier own protection. Also, I think you will need thier parents permision to post.

This sounds like fun! Very Happy
