This project is complete. All files are available on the catalog page here:

Warlord of Kor by Terry Carr
http://www.gutenberg.org/etext/17958

Target date: Jan. 1, 2007

I just ran across this title in Project Gutenberg. The publication date is 1963, but the Copyright Status indicates that it is in the Public Domain in the United States (in other words, the copyright was not renewed and expired in the US)... however, the author died in 1987 so it may not be PD in other countries.... if you live outside of the US, please be aware that you might be breaking the law by recording this book.

I started reading this as a solo project, but didn't find the book as captivating as I had hoped...

Recording Notes:
  • Begin your recording with the standard Librivox Disclaimer: "This is a Librivox recording. All Librivox Recordings are in the public domain. For more information and to find out how you can volunteer, please visit Librivox.org"
  • Say: "Warlord of Kor by Terry Carr."
  • Say: "[Chapter ##]"
  • At end, say: "End of [Chapter ##]"
  • Please leave 5 seconds of silence at the end of your recording
  • Recording info: http://librivox.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=6427#6430
  • More recording info: http://librivox.org/about-recording/

  • Pronunciation Notes: ... I completely mispronounced the main character's name throughout my readings... and I suspect that some of the alien names will be pronouced differently by everyone... you are welcome to pronounce the names however you like, or you may download and listen to one of my recordings to hear how I have pronounced them... but I'm not splitting hairs on this one =)

File Format: 44100Hz, 16-bit, 128kpbs, MP3

File Name: warlord_of_kor_##_carr.mp3

ID3 Tag Formats:
Title/Name: Chapter ##
Artist: Terry Carr
Album: Warlord of Kor

You may either post a link to your completed files here in the forum, or email them to yourself using a service such as http://www.yousendit.com/ and then post the provided link in this forum.

Please include the following with your file:
- Your name as you would like it to appear on the catalog page.
- URL of your homepage if you have one you would like linked to your name on the catalog page.

Wow! I didn't know there was anything post-1922 that was PD! Fantastic :)

Oh, yes, quite a LOT of works published in 1923 and after are in the public domain... mostly due to the expiration of the copyright... though, 1963 is the latest date that we can expect to find PD works... and in 2018 works published in 1923 that had their copyrights renewed will rise to the public domain (unless the laws change again *grr*) ... so, there are some exciting things to look forward to =)

Chapter 01 is complete. The link is listed in the initial post of this thread... I'd be glad to have someone begin proof-listening at anytime =)

Chapter 02 is complete (after having to rerecord it due to too much background noise)

I listened to both chapters as soon as I saw that they were available for listening - wonderful stuff! They were both good - I heard nothing wrong with either.

Sorry that this was so long in coming - I've bene having computer troubles and life hassles. Looking forward to the next chapters! What a wonderful find - reasonably modern SF in the PD!

Greg, thank you for the encouragement! ... I have chapter 3 recorded, but I think I'll have to do it again as there is some wind interfereing with the microphone heh... it's soooo hot here, that having some comfortable time to record without fans or AC running has been difficult ... I'll get it up for you soon =)

Chapter 3 is posted... I'm running a little late, but not so much that I'll worry about it yet... I've been catching up on my Anne of the Island Chapters =)

Wow, I hope that you've been reading this in as dramatic and overwrought a voice as you can manage. It's hilarious. I'm deeply amused that something this awful is sneaking into the Librivox catalog. I'll bite. Chapter 5 for me.

Excellent! ... and actually, I had been "doing" the voices... you're welcome to preview any of the chapters I've completed just for the fun of it =)

Thanks Ponyfeathers for joining me! =)

I listened to all four chapters--I can't stop once I get into a story. Razz You really shine in the dialouge, you should find a one-act play to read on your own. Smile
