HI
I'm new to Librivox and I'm trying to get set up to start reading. I've done a test recording and the feedback I had was that I'd set some setting incorrectly and it should have been 128kbps. This is all fine - I can see how I need to set this up in Audacity and that's not problem.
My question is about the other setting which is the Hz setting. I don't have a clue what the difference is between this and the other setting.
Anyway - when I open Audacity and I record directly into Audacity, this setting is 44100Hz. However, I don't have a microphone so I'm not using Audacity to record. I have a little MP3 player that I'm using. So when I open my MP3 files in Audacity, this setting goes to 32000Hz. When I try and change the setting to 44100Hz, I sound like Mickey Mouse. So how important is this setting? What does it mean? is 32000Hz OK? There doesn't seem to be a setting on my MP3 player that I can change to 44100Hz.
Thanks for any help.

I think that must be a very old discussion - they do have to be 44100HZ , we can't catalogue them otherwise
I'm a bit puzzled as I just went and tried changing the value in Audacity and the file just sounded the same . Its not something that happens often , so I haven't met it but I'm sure some one will come up with a solution

The key to changing that setting in audacity without changing the way the voice sounds, is to change it for the entire project, rather than for the individual track. You do this down at the very bottom left of the audacity window.
