Not all audiobooks are read by authors, or even by those who are blessed with rich, compelling voices.

Just about anyone can do it, really. And last week, some Evansville teens got a how-to in audiobook reading at Central Library.

The Web site LibriVox.org is "essentially a library providing free access to audiobooks," said Charles Sutton, teen librarian for the Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library system.

Charles, you rock!

And those who log on to read need not worry about verbal slips. "That's what the editing is for," said Darren Willett, the library's media room coordinator.

Phipps wasn't too pleased with his first go-round at audiobook reading, so he asked for a second try.

That's not unusual, said Sutton. He explained that audiobook reading looks easier than it actually is.

"There is no right or wrong way," he said. "LibriVox isn't going to critique you. It's fun and easy. But it's not that easy."

It's as easy as falling off a log. But perhaps it's a bit like falling off a log onto a feather bed, and sorta bouncing back onto the log again.

Have I totally missed the Evansville invasion, or is it yet to come..? Anyone in that neck of the woods want to say hi..?

How cool! Nice to see pictures - very flash, new-looking library, too.

I emailed the Teen Specialist Librarian to tell him of our delight about this. I've had a very nice email back. Smile
