Volunteers outside the USA: Robert Service (Section 05) died in 1958. His work is probably still protected by copyright in places, like Europe, where copyright is author's death plus 70 years.

To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are “up for grabs.” Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you’d like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.

Target completion date of this project: Date – DECEMBER 2009 but try to send your recordings as soon as you can. Please note that if we haven't heard from you for two months, your section(s) will automatically be re-opened for other readers. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it’ll go back to the pool. There’s no shame in this; we’re all volunteers and things happen.
- Where do I find the text?
Robert Burns wrote chiefly in scottish dialect.Do not let this put you off reading his works.I sincerly hope and encourage all who feel like reading a Burns work to do so!You do not need a Scottish accent or have to pay for a vocal coach.You might find some of his words difficult to understand.Here is a great site with his poems and a glossary of all scottish words.Burns Poems & Glossary I will gladly answer any questions here or by PM.

Need noise-cleaning?
Listen to your file through headphones. If you can hear some constant background noise (hiss/buzz), you may want to clean it up a bit. The new (free) version 1.3.3. of Audacity (Mac/Win) has much improved noise-cleaning. See this LibriVox wiki page for a complete guide.
Save files as
128 kbps MP3
titleinoneword_##_authorsurname.mp3 (all lower-case) where ## is your section number. (e.g. tamoshanter_01_burns.mp3)
ID3 V2 tags

Add the following tags to your .mp3 file (how you do this depends on which software you use – if you are unsure about ID3 tags, send me a message). Please mind upper and lower case!
Title: ## - [Section title]
Artist: Author name
Album: Robert Burns.250th Anniversary Volume 1
Please ignore tags for Genre and Track Number - these will be filled in automatically at the cataloguing stage.
Transfer of files (completed recordings)

I'd love to be a part of this. This will be one of the few times I get to let my Scottish accent really shine through.
Are we doing individual poems? Burns' aren't generally very long, which is why I'm asking.
...no, really, I am so excited for this. The highland lassie in me is fair chuffed.

If not then feel free to submit a Burns favorite of your own.
And please do consider reading a part from "Twa Dogs" - Narrator or one of the dogs

About the most you are going to get out of me is Auld Lang Syne - I'm far too English. But see if a PM to firecircle (Alexander Hughson) yields any joy... he did the most wonderful Macbeth monologue and I keep hoping he will do more recordings.
