20000 Leagues Under the Seas by Jules Verne

Captain Nemo, The Nautilus, and the mysterious depths of the ocean. Unforgettable. Come join an adventure that will roam among coral and pearls, sharks and giant squid, with wonders of biology and engineering that will thrust us from the Antarctic to Atlantis. Whether voyaging a yarn of the glorious unknown, a tale of the darkness that grips the heart of men, or a reinterpretation of Homer's Odyssey, we'll all enjoy the fantastic trip. How to claim a part, and 'how it all works' here
To find a section to record, simply look at point 4. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are �up for grabs.� Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you�d like to read (include the blue number, please). Read points 5. to 7. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.

Is there a deadline?
Yes. February 28, 2007

However, try to send your recordings as soon as you can. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool, to be rescued in loving adoption.

If we pass the deadline, claimed but uncompleted chapters may be liberated, if there are readers available.

I notice that the chapters are fairly short - looks like 15-20 minutes each

Yes, this book is around the same length as Hardy's Return of the Native, with about the same chapter size, a three thousand word average. Four seems typical for most of the other projects.

Should be using the ol' short and sweet as a selling point? Wink

Hello Marlo,

I will meta-coordinate you. I'm looking forward to hear this book. I never read it, but when I was a child, the title startled me. Especially in the German translation the title can also have the meaning "in a depth of 20.000 league" which is a little bit unreasonable Wink

I would like to record Part 1 chapter 8,9, and 10.

I just noticed that I joined librivox at almost the same time as ChipDoc, but he has been WAAAY more prolific. Way to go!

Also-- my french pronunciation is awful. I'm concerned about getting the names right. I'll listen to ChipDocs recordings and pronounce the names as he does. Failing that, could someone record a brief pronunciation guide for the names in 20000 Leagues?
